Commitment to Transparency

Transparency around accessibility needs is exceedingly important; in this section I hope to share as much information as possible about the level of accessibility in my physical and digital spaces. That being said, accessibility needs can be complex and I am quite sure I will forget something! I am very interested in accommodating to the best of my ability, I believe there is a creative solution to every challenge - together, we can figure it out. Please email me with questions, concerns or creative challenges we can solve together.

Building Accessibility

85 Norfolk is a Medical Building that was built in 1988; therefore the building does have physical limitations. Alyssa's office is on the third floor, there is a standard sized elevator to the third floor floor and hallways that are wide enough to accommodate for a wheelchair. The limitations arise at the doorframes within the office, which range from 28" to 32" - which does not meet the current AODA standards for new buildings. If 28" is manageable for your mobility device, Alyssa's office can accommodate a wheelchair.

Within unit 310, we do not have an accessible restroom. The restroom would be able to accommodate a small mobility device like a cane or walker with easy access. We do have access to a wheelchair accessible restroom at the end of the hall on the third floor. The restroom remains locked for building security, please ask Alyssa for the key when needed.

Restroom Accessibility

Parking

Parking for the building can be limited; there are 5 accessible spaces directly outside the main entrance of the building (closest to the elevator). Unfortunately, folks without a disability parking pass must park across the street in the designated lot.

Digital Space Accessibility

Alyssa uses "Jane" for both booking systems and online video calls; following PHIPPA guidelines, there are limited video calls that offer voice to text or accommodate for sensory differences. Alyssa is happy to explore alternative options at your request and looks forward to finding easy styles of communication.

Come as you are, stay as you heal -

It would be an honour to support you.

I acknowledge that the land on which I practice in Guelph, Ontario is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, the Attawandaron/Chonnonton, and Haudenosaunee peoples and the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. I acknowledge that this land is stolen. The original stewards of this land honour this space by recognizing that land cannot be truly owned - as it is living being. I acknowledge the importance of growing our knowledge to honour and support the traditions and rituals of caretaking this land.
